About Me

Hi! I'm Michelle Parrinello-Cason, and this is my blog about balancing multiple roles in life.

I'm a faculty member at an urban community college teaching developmental writing. I'm also a part-time student working on a PhD in rhetoric and composition. I am interested in the rhetorical construction of difference, especially race and gender in popular culture and composition pedagogical theory, especially for developmental writers.

I'm also a wife and the mother of a toddler. My husband and I work hard to equally share our parenting responsibilities since we both work full-time.

Having a biracial little girl has made me incredibly aware of the messages popular media sends about race and gender in a new way. My scholarly life and my personal life began to overlap more and more.

I started this blog when I found out I was pregnant and have been using it as a space to examine the way the various facets of my life intertwine.

This blog may seem all over the place, but it's really just a space for me to see how things come together. I blog about feminism, equality, popular culture, rhetoric, parenting, cooking, education, racism, pets, politics, etc. I also love hearing from other people on how they juggle the different parts of their lives and identities.

Thanks for reading!
