The Good, the Bad, and the Curious (Links for the Week)

Here's what I've been reading that's made me smile, cry, and think. What about you?

The Good

Sick of talking about the election? (Me too, but I'm probably going to keep doing it anyway). Here's a cool little article on the weirdest polling places across America that can make you feel topical without inciting any rage.

Offbeat Mama linked to a beautiful home birth video

The Bad

Bloomberg broke the story that shows why Mitt Romney doesn't want to release his tax returns. He used a church loophole and paid virtually nothing in taxes for years, yet somehow it's the 47% that he sees as seeking entitlements. The hypocrisy is palpable.

The story of the mother who lost her two sons in Hurricane Sandy was heartbreaking enough, but when I read that she'd been turned away when she sought help, my mind reeled.

The Curious

This Offbeat Mama post about raising tri-cultural children is really thoughtful.

I really disagree with the author of this xoJane post about whether or not it matters if women refuse to identify themselves as feminists, but it did make me think.

Fat Nutritionist has an excellent post that examines the purpose of blogging, the role of comments, and just how much you need to take for the sake of argument.

Sociological Images has an interesting post about the voting gender gap
